Edgar Dragon Fruit variety comes from the genus Hylocereus and the species polyrhizus. This variety was previously known as Red ES1, with “E” standing for Edgar and S1 for Seedling 1.
In our humble opinion this is one of the most beautiful Dragon Fruit we grow. The plant material came directly from Edgar Valdivia as a gift to Wallace Ranch.
The plant is not a prolific bloomer but waves three times a year and each plant produces 2-3 fruits per wave.
The flavor is nice, soft. Not dynamic and complex but just soft slightly sweet and no acidity to speak of.
Fruit size is typically 1 to 2 lb, and the skin and the red of the skin is very unusual. Again it is one of the most stunning Dragon Fruits that we grow.
Plant Material is hardy, average growth, beautiful green.
